<description>"Love hurts, love scars, love wound, and marks; Any heart, not tough, or strong, enough; To take a lot of pain, take a lot of pain; Love is like a cloud, holds a lot of rain. Love hurts. Ooh ooh. Love hurts." Ah, the classic Nazareth song. You should give yourself permission to luxuriate and listen to sappy love songs when you are dealing with heartache. It's perfectly acceptable and is the one time in life you can get away with a lot of foolish behavior.

People will understand -- the people who love you and care for you. Because when you are broken hearted, you're in a state of mourning, really. You're mourning the loss of your failed relationship. But remember, it's not forever. This pain will subside. When we lose anything in life, we mourn. There is no definitive time. Although, it does feel like heartache can last forever. It won't. The aching heart pain will lessen over time.

You can do some constructive things with your time, when your riding the heartache storm out. Physical activity is critical at these times. Some people go to the gym and they just go sick on the treadmills and other cardio machines. Talk about the perfect time to get in exquisite shape, not to mention the impact it has on repairing your confidence. Reading is good. Escapist literature is groovy. Or, you may want to learn more about this heartache thing you're dealing with. Many people respond well to learning about their out-of-control situation by feeling more in control. How can you do this? By learning about it, by bonding with others who also suffer from a broken heart. Thomas McKnight's Love Tactics is an excellent read on the study of romance and love. Gain insight by logging on to www.lovetactics.com or picking up the print edition.

You don't have to suffer these heartbroken feelings on your own. Healing comes from spending time working out the kinks, and sharing in a supportive atmosphere of others who are going through a similar experience. You'll get there, too. Have faith in yourself. And eat comfort foods! Then go work them off. What are you waiting for? Activate your right to heal.
